Manolaya,Inaguration Kanyakumari
The MANOLAYA Treatment and Rehabilitation Centre for the Destitute Mentally Ill at Atchankulam, Kanyakumari, was inaugurated on 14th October 2014 by Shri Pon Radhakrishnan, then Union Minister of State for Road Transport and Highways and Shipping. Built on an 8-acre plot with an 8,000 sq. ft. facility, the centre was entirely funded by public donations.

Shri. Nagarajan IAS District Collector
On 23rd May 2014, Shri S. Nagarajan IAS, then District Collector of Kanyakumari, along with Shri Shankar Lal Kumarawat IAS, Sub-Collector, visited MANOLAYA. They commended the organization’s efforts and assured official support for its work.

Poojya Mahant Swami Maharaj
During the early stages of MANOLAYA’s construction in 2013, Poojya Mahant Swami Maharaj, the present spiritual leader of BAPS, visited the site. He offered his blessings for the initiative, encouraging its mission to care for destitute mentally ill persons

Vocational Training Unit Inauguration
In 2019, MANOLAYA strengthened its rehabilitation program by opening a Vocational Training Unit in 2019, inaugurated by Shri Kathirvel, District Differently Abled Rehabilitation Officer. Training included paper bag making, candle making, and concrete block production, tailored to residents’ abilities.

Half Way Home Opening
In 2021, a Half-Way Home was launched at the Kanyakumari facility to accommodate inmates in a stable condition transitioning back into society. It was formally opened by Dr. Enoch, Chief Psychiatrist, and aimed to provide a supportive environment for reintegration.

Manolaya, Inaguration Rameshwaram
The MANOLAYA - RAMESWARAM Centre was inaugurated on 17th November 2017 by Shri iLa. Ganesan, Member of Parliament (Rajya Sabha). The centre began operations in a rented building to address the needs of destitute mentally ill persons in the region, offering shelter, medical care, and rehabilitation. Multiple rescues of destitute mentally ill persons were carried out on the same day, marking the centre’s first operational milestone.

Manolaya,Rameswaram Expansion
Following its initial establishment, the Rameswaram centre was relocated to a temporary structure built on land donated by a gracious donor. This move provided a more stable base for expanding services while awaiting construction of a permanent facility.

Manolaya,Chennai
A new MANOLAYA home was opened on 11th January 2021 at T.H. Road, Tondiarpet, Chennai, with support from the Greater Chennai Corporation. The centre accommodated 50 male residents until its closure in November 2023, after which residents were transferred to other facilities.

Manolaya, Rameswaram Building
New Building on Own Land Opened by Shri. R.N. Ravi, Tamil Nadu Governor On 16th January 2024, Hon’ble Governor of Tamil Nadu, Thiru R.N. Ravi, visited the Rameswaram centre, donating food and clothing and sanctioning funds for a new building. The fully equipped facility, built to accommodate 50 residents, was formally inaugurated by the Governor on 2nd March 2025.
