Our Centers
Manolaya - Centers
MANOLAYA was born out of a compassionate response to the plight of destitute persons living with mental illness, many of whom are abandoned at pilgrimage centers such as Kanyakumari and Rameswaram. With no families to care for them, they are left to wander the streets in conditions of neglect and despair. Our centers provide them with treatment, rehabilitation, dignity, and hope for a better future.
Manolaya – Kanyakumari Treatment and Rehabilitation Centre
Established at Atchankulam in Kanyakumari, this is MANOLAYA’s first and flagship centre. It provides comprehensive psychiatric treatment, medical care, and rehabilitation services for destitute men who have been abandoned at pilgrimage sites or on the streets. Along with therapy, the centre focuses on vocational training and life skills so that inmates may recover and, wherever possible, be reintegrated with their families. This centre has been approved by the Tamil Nadu State Mental Health Authority to accommodate 60 inmates

Manolaya – Rameswaram Treatment and Rehabilitation Centre
At MANOLAYA, treatment begins with a thorough psychiatric evaluation conducted by some of the best psychiatrists in the region. Our multidisciplinary approach combines modern psychiatric care with the expertise of occupational therapists, counsellors, and trained nurses. In addition to medical treatment, we integrate holistic therapies such as yoga, meditation, and art therapy to support mental and emotional healing. Each care plan is tailored to the individual, ensuring the best chance for recovery and well-being.

Manolaya – Kanyakumari Half Way Home
The Half Way Home at Kanyakumari is designed for both men and women who have achieved a stable mental condition but are not yet ready to live independently. It caters to persons treated by MANOLAYA as well as other institutions in 4 districts of South Tamil Nadu namely Kanyakumari, Tirunelveli, Thenkasi and Thoothukud. The centre provides continued therapy, guidance, and skill development to prepare them for reintegration into society. Here, the focus is on enabling residents to lead productive and economically self-sufficient lives, ensuring their dignity and independence are restored. The capacity of the Half Way Home as approved by the Tamil Nadu State Mental Health Authority is 50 inmates.

Extension of Kanyakumari Treatment & Rehabilitation Centre
With the increasing number of destitute persons in need of care, MANOLAYA is constructing a new extension of 10,000 sq.feet at Kanyakumari. This additional facility will expand our capacity to treat and rehabilitate more individuals, while strengthening vocational training and reintegration programs. It represents MANOLAYA’s unwavering commitment to ensuring that no one is left behind in their journey from abandonment to dignity.
